Our Credentials - ISO 14000 / 14001 & OHSAS 18000 / 18001

Joe Phillips is a RABQSA certified EMS Lead Auditor (Certification No. E052441) for the ISO 14001 standard. He is president of Phillips-Baird, Inc., specializing in ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems in association with Pillar Management Associates and Environmental Compliance Source, Ltd., a women-owned business. Joe has conducted over 325 ISO 14001 registration audits while working for three (3) registrars. He has also provided ISO 14001 implementation help and assistance for 22 companies – eight of those being Japanese investment companies in Indiana and Kentucky. Joe rounds out his ISO 14001 expertise by conducting ISO 14001 Lead Auditor and Internal Auditor Training courses.
In addition to his credentials for ISO 14001, Joe has been recognized as qualified to serve as a Lead Auditor for OHSAS 18001 audits for NSF International Strategic Registrations, Inc. He has completed three OHSAS 18001 management system implementation projects, five (5) registration audits, and a number of surveillance audits. He conducts OHSAS 18001:2007 Lead Auditor Training Classes. He has earned an OSHA 501 certificate for successfully completing the OSHA 501: Training Course for General Industry and credentials from the U.S. Department of Labor National Safety Education Center acknowledging that his is an OSHA General Industry Outreach Trainer. As Outreach Trainer, Joe is authorized to conduct 10- and 30-hour General Industry outreach training in accordance with the guidelines provided by the OSHA Office of Training and Education. Prior to starting Phillips-Baird in 2001, Joe managed the Quality Services division for Indiana Business Modernization and Technology Corporation (BMT). As Quality Services Manager, he supervised four (4) RABQSA auditors who assisted and led 140 companies through ISO 9000 and QS-9000 implementation. While working for BMT, Joe coordinated the delivery of ISO 14001 awareness education to 130 companies, partnering with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), registrars, ISO 14001 registered companies and consultants. Joe has participated as a member of the IDEM ISO 14001 Advisory Group and presented “ISO 14001 in a Competitive International Market” at the 9th Annual Environmental Symposium at the Cincinnati Convention Center. He is a former member of the NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership ISO 14001 Environmental Working Group. In 1999, Joe received the NIST-NAMTEC Practitioner-of-the-Year Award. Joe is a graduate of Mississippi State University, receiving a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology. He also earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.
